"The last thing I want, and the last thing the Lord wants, is for me to keep this behind four walls. I see a marketplace for songs of inspiration, comfort and joy. It's like its got Heaven's stamp of approval."

(New York, N.Y.)—Country music artist and Christian, Ricky Skaggs, was interviewed recently by Jim Fusilli of the Wall Street Journal (WSJ).

Regarding the release of his new album, Mosaic, Fusilli asked Skaggs if there was a continuing theme to his music—musical fathers, blood father, Heavenly Father—to which Skaggs replied, "All my music is for the glory of God." (Photo: Getty Images/WSJ)

Said Skaggs: "I'm mostly known as a secular artist who plays clubs, casinos and beer joints, fairs. We're out there among the regular people. But I'm a Christian and I believe the truth of the Bible. I try to live it every day of my life. It's not something I put on like a suit of clothes."

"The album's centerpiece," says Fusilli, "is Fire From the Sky, with lyrics that draw its inspiration from the Bible's Books of Kings and its story in which the prophet Elijah calls fire from Heaven to light a sacrifice. The song begins with a country bounce, as Mr. Skaggs's voice rings over clacking percussion and a lightly strummed acoustic guitar. Mr. Skaggs then reads a verse from the book. The track explodes."

According to the report, Skaggs had actually visited Mount Carmel a few months ago and is considering releasing Fire From the Sky as a single in Israel.
