While browsing through a collection of photos on the web, I stumbled on this intricate photo of neurons in the human brain. (Photo: TU Graz/IGI)

Here's an excerpt of what is written about this image courtesy of Graz University of Technology in Austria: As you're reading this sentence, your brain is reprogramming itself. Neurons are connected in a complex weave, as shown in this image. Unlike computers today, which follow a pre-determined set of routines and must follow these programs in sequential order (one reason even the most advanced robots could never start thinking on their own), the brain is a collection of more than a million neurons that can adapt on the fly and re-program "routines" at will.

In light of this remarkable photo, look at what King David writes in Psalm 139—out of the Amplified Bible—in verse 15:

"My frame was not hidden from You when I was being formed in secret [and] intricately and curiously wrought [as if embroidered with various colors] in the depths of the earth [a region of darkness and mystery]."

As the image reveals, the human brain is all of what is written there in verse 15; 'intricate; curiously wrought; as if embroidered with various colors…'

And, for all our rapid increase in technology, even the greatest computer still is no match for the amazing abilities of the human brain.

That realization certainly draws me to verses 13 and 14 of Psalm 139, declaring to God, along with David, "You did form my inward parts; You did knit me together in my mother's womb. I will confess and praise You for You are fearful and wonderful and for the awful wonder of my birth! Wonderful are Your works, and that my inner self knows right well."
