AG Merrick Garland's Vow to Fight Voter ID Laws is Opposite of What Most Americans Want, and Insulting to Minorities

Aimee Herd-Commentary : Mar 6, 2024  Breaking Christian News

Beyond the obvious—albeit clandestine—intentions to "fix" the next election, the thought that minorities lack the ability to obtain voter IDs and registration is extremely demeaning.

[Breaking Christian News] According to media reports, Attorney General Merrick Garland announced this past Sunday, at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Selma, that he vows to fight voter integrity, and voter ID laws, claiming they are "discriminatory, burdensome, and unnecessary." Allow me to digress for a moment, to when I first registered as a voter in my home state as a teen. I received a voter registration card, which I was required to show, along with ID, to the poll worker prior to voting.

This was a given. It made perfect sense to me even at that young age, and in no way did it put me out, or was "burdensome." I was actually excited to show my credentials as a US citizen and to be a part of the process—to have my voice heard, and my vote counted.

AG Garland maintains that voter ID and integrity laws are basically a "plot to disadvantage minorities," according to a Breitbart report.

Why? In what way would requiring ID before voting—to ensure that one is qualified, and a CITIZEN of the United States—be some sort of evil plan to block the minority vote?

I find this to be highly INSULTING to minorities. It insinuates that people of ethnic backgrounds do not have the wherewithal to register and obtain ID prior to voting.

Ridiculous!

What's more, polls reveal that most people in the US are SUPPORTIVE of voter ID laws, including Democrats.

Breitbart noted in 2021, and reiterated recently that:

"A new poll ... by Rasmussen Reports, indicates that 75 percent of Americans support voter ID laws that require voters to show photo identification before voting—including 60 percent of Democrats. Only 21 percent oppose such laws."

With the massively overrun border, and illegal migrants pouring into the country by the hundreds of thousands, I'm guessing that number has only grown in support.

What is so very obvious, is that the Biden regime, including AG Garland, is working to remove any and all roadblocks for cheating in elections.

According to BizPacReview, comments regarding Merrick's speech on Sunday, were a-plenty on X:

"Well ... The Democratic Party has realized that if they are unable to Cheat, they cannot win! If we do away with their methods of election rigging....that Would be inconvenient for them." -ChuckleBerry4

"Merrick Garland makes it clear the Biden regime intends to cheat in the 2024 election. The Biden AG said election integrity measures like voter IDs & drop box bans are 'discriminatory, burdensome & unnecessary.' This is how cheaters talk. The fix is in." -Kyle Becker

"Ask yourself why the attorney general would want to fight 'voter ID' laws meant to make sure only American citizens vote in elections unless they know they cannot win? All the problems Americans face daily and this is the priority of the AG." -Ash

Beyond the clear—albeit clandestine—intentions to "fix" the next election, the thought that minorities lack the ability to obtain voter IDs and registration is extremely demeaning.

If Garland feels so strongly that minorities have trouble in registering to vote, why doesn't he make it a priority to help them to legally register, and get those ID cards?

Oh that's right, it's not really his goal. Subscribe for free to Breaking Christian News here
