(Hollywood, CA)—Jane Russell, the legendary star of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and longtime Movieguide® supporter has died in her Santa Maria Home. She was 89.

"Jane was a strong Christian and while we mourn her loss, we know she is with Jesus right now," says Ted Baehr, founder of Movieguide®.

Russell got her start in the Howard Hughes' film The Outlaw in 1943 and went on to worldwide fame. Russell's last film role was in the 1970's.

Over the years, she appeared in His Kind of Woman, The Las Vegas Story, Gentlemen Marry Brunettes, The Paleface, The Revolt of Mamie Stover, the flop The Fuzzy Pink Nightgown, Fate is the Hunter, and The Born Losers.

In her career, she appeared with such stars as Bob Hope, Robert Mitchum, Marilyn Monroe, and Clark Gable.

Jane Russell loved attending the annual Movieguide® Awards Gala and encouraged and supported the ministry.

"Jane and I spoke at many Christian and conservative events together," noted Ted Baehr. "Jane would often quote the "woes" from Isaiah 5. She had a great knowledge of the Bible since her mother had a long standing Bible study in Hollywood that Jane continued for many years."

She was the mother of three adopted children, a grandmother of six and a great-grandmother of 10.
