How 2-Year-Old Mason—at Death's Door—Recovered from Infection and Multi-Organ Failure, Doctor Calls it "Nothing short of a miracle"Mason's 4-year-old sister, Brooke, told her worried grandma, "It's okay, John 14:14 will help you. Ask anything in His name and it shall be done." Debbie and Steve Ikirt were concerned when their then 2-year-old son, Mason caught his sister's cold and his fever spiked to 106 degrees, causing convulsions which prompted a rush to the emergency room.
Mason was suffering from hemolytic uremic syndrome, which—according to the CBN report—feeds on platelets and destroys the red blood cells. The disease apparently can develop after pneumonia, and there is no cure or treatment. During Mason's surgery to remove a severe lung infection, Debbie and Steve suddenly heard a call for "any available surgeon to O-R, STAT," and worried it might be for Mason. Their fears were confirmed when Mason's primary internist walked into the waiting area and dropped to one knee. "When he took that knee, my heart just dropped to the most bottom part of my body," recalled Debbie. "He told us it was worse than he thought… that Mason bled out and his heart stopped." The internist later said that when Mason's heart stopped, he'd had to reach into his chest and pump the boy's heart with his hand. Steve and Debbie were faced with a very grim prognosis, both telling God, "If You want him, take him. He's Your son and let Your will be done." "He actually had multi-organ system failure," Dr. Stephen Keller noted. "When you put all of that together, he certainly had a less than 20 percent chance of surviving based on the medical knowledge that we have." However, back home, Mason's 4-year-old sister, Brooke, told her worried grandma, "It's okay, John 14:14 will help you. Ask anything in His name and it shall be done." Just three days later, Mason's kidneys began to work again. Five days later, he was able to come off the ventilator, but an MRI revealed the toddler had suffered 12 strokes. The strokes had affected his mobility and sight, and Mason was left unable to see or move. But his parents were emphatic, praying and believing for "…Mason's 100 percent recovery and healing." After nine weeks in intensive care and 3 months of intense rehab, Mason incredibly regained his sight and ability to move. According to the CBN report, he is now a "thriving preschooler." Mason's amazing recovery from the brink of death caused his doctors to agree, "It's nothing short of a miracle." Read the full story at the source link provided.
