Deadly Explosions at Boston Marathon Claim 3 Lives, Leave 176 InjuredThe attack is reportedly being treated as an act of terrorism. Please be in prayer for this situation.
There are at least 176 people who were injured in the blast; some of them losing limbs. And there were 3 who were killed; an 8-year-old boy among them. There were "two and only two" bombs, and no other explosive devices were found. Police and FBI agents working on the case say they have no suspects at this time. (UPDATED 10:13 PM PT)—According to an AP report at the time of this posting, there are now 3 confirmed dead in the Monday afternoon bombings at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. There have been varying numbers of those injured, some saying more than 130; while the AP stating over 140 were injured. One of the three killed in the blasts was an 8-year-old boy, a spectator of the 26-mile run. President Obama spoke about the bombings, saying that whoever is responsible will "feel the full weight of justice." Several media reports noted that the FBI is treating the attacks as an "act of terrorism," although no group or individual has yet claimed responsibility.
Not long after the two explosions there was another incident at the JFK Library in Boston, but police are now saying it is unrelated. There is reportedly a suspect in custody. According to a tweet by NBC Sports Network, some of the Marathon runners that crossed the finish line, continued to run to Mass General Hospital to give blood for the blast victims. Around the same time, another explosion was reported at JFK Library in Boston. It is not yet known if the explosions are related. In response to the explosions, New York City, Washington DC and the White House were all on lockdown and high alert, and as a precaution, the airspace over the explosions was declared a temporary "no-fly zone," according to a Newsmax report.
