CA Town Pushes Back against Newsom; City Council Votes Unanimously to Become a 'Non-Sanctuary City'"If the governor refuses to fulfill his duty to protect Californians, we will step up and do everything, everything within our power locally to ensure the safety and security of everyone who sets foot in the city of Huntington Beach." -City Council member Gracey Van Der Mark
The City Council voted to declare Huntington Beach a "Non-Sanctuary City." City Council member Butch Twining said, "Public safety is proactive. Imagine what would [we] be ... talking about here tonight if, say, Laken Riley or Jocelyn (sic) Nungaray or Rachel Morin was a resident of Huntington Beach, and she got and each one of them got raped and killed by illegal aliens." "There would be a whole different argument going on in here like ‘why weren't we proactive?' And one other thing we all up here said, you know, when we take our oath of office, we raise our hand and we swear to defend and uphold the Constitution of the United States."... ... Council member Gracey Van Der Mark, "...We promise to protect the residents of Huntington Beach. "And unfortunately, at this point, we have to protect them from the state, from the governor and from the, thank goodness, former President Biden, because it's no secret that harmful policies that are originated in DC and Sacramento, signed into law by Governor Newsom and ...Joe Biden, have created significant challenges that put all California residents at risk."
