Dear Readers, On August 2, 2011, Lori Salley, Co-Founder of Show Mercy International was hospitalized for Malaria and in serious condition. We sent out a prayer alert to our dear readers on both the Elijah List and Breaking Christian News. Lori and Katelin are home now and continue to improve and Lori wants to thank everyone for their prayers and support in a short "Thank You" video.

Lori is continuing to improve each day. Her lab work came back good this morning. She is, however, still having some really bad headaches which is to be expected. They are giving her morphine for that. She is also very tired and having pain with her IVs. The doctors are considering moving her to a room outside of ICU today so that is great news. She still has a ways to go to recover completely but is headed in the right direction.

Katelin is also doing better. Her parasite counts are down and her fever has dropped to around 99.2 so she is doing good and improving as well. Please keep praying for a full recovery.

We cannot express how grateful we are for the tremendous support. It is very hard to respond to everyone who is praying and giving sending messages but know that we are getting them and are very encouraged. I am sure that Lori will do her best to respond once she is out and fully recovered. I will try and get her to record a video message to everyone today if she is up to it so you can hear and see her thanks.

Dear Friends,

This morning (around 8am) things began to turn around for the better for Lori. She is now awake, talking a little and understanding all communications to her! She doesn't realize how sick she was. They just got her blood work back and her parasite count went down from 17% to less than 1%!!! Everyone in the lab is rejoicing! The doctors are very pleased with the progress she is making! Her neurological exam seemed normal to the physicians. They are all smiles.

Please keep praying for a full recovery. Your prayers are working along with an experimental drug sent to her from the CDC. There are still health issues which need more healing, but she is so much better! Keep Katelin in your prayers as she needs to recover fully as well. I am sure she will.

[Oregon-8/2/11-9:30pm PT]?As you know, we are STRONG supporters of Show Mercy, an orphanage in Uganda. Show Mercy founders, Lori and Mike Salley, just returned from Uganda and their orphanage. On the way home, Lori began to show signs that she had contracted Malaria. Her daughter, Katelin came down with a fever at about the same time that turned out to be Malaria too.

First Lori was hospitalized locally [to them and us] in Albany, Oregon. Then they moved her quickly to ICU. It grew in seriousness and now the Malaria has gone to the brain and Lori is being quickly transported to OHSU in Portland, nearly 90 minutes away.

This is SERIOUS! Please, please, be in prayer for both Lori Salley, (and her husband Mike) and also be in prayer for Katelin in the Albany hospital. They caught Katelin?s Malaria early but she is still hospitalized in Albany.

If you have ever prayed for anyone with intensity, this is one of those times. Lori loves those orphans?as does the entire family. And God most certainly loves Lori and Katelin (mother and daughter), as well as Mike and Sarah (the other daughter). To clarify, Lori and Katelin will each be each hospitalized in separate hospitals. Again, the most serious prayer request is for Lori, who is in a very serious condition!
