Stranded Woman Survives Seven Weeks in Wilderness with Her Bible and Small Amount of Food

Teresa Neumann : May 11, 2011  Staff – Globe and Mail

"We prayed for a miracle, and boy, did we get one." -Raymond Chretien

Ruth Chretien(Vancouver, B.C.)—It's inconceivable to imagine being stranded alone in the wilderness for nearly two months, but that's exactly what happened to Rita Chretien of Canada.

News reports state that Chretien and her husband Albert were driving from their home in British Columbia to a trade show in Las Vegas on March 19 when they got lost and stuck in mud on a remote forestry road in northern Nevada.

On Friday, May 6, hunters found the couple's car with Mrs. Chretien still alive inside of it.

According to the report, she survived by drinking melted snow and rationing a small amount of food as she read her Bible.

To date, her husband, who set off on foot to find help, has reportedly not been found.

The Chretien family is said to still be hopeful. "We were praying for a miracle," said their son Raymond, "and, boy, did we get one. We are praying for another."

Incidentally, the name "Chretien" in French, means Christian.
