"There is no place for political violence in our Nation—period," said Rep. Jack Bergman (R-MI). "The fact that right here in the U.P., an elderly man was run down for exercising his First Amendment rights and placing a Trump sign in his own yard is vile and unthinkable. We must all condemn these un-American acts wherever they crop up. The hatred and vitriol that the radical left's rhetoric has inspired can never be allowed to take root in our state or country."

Police say a 22-year-old man driving an ATV confessed to that crime along with several others targeting Trump supporters and law enforcement supporters.. The suspect was later found dead.

Television station WZMQ reports: "The crimes reported in the City of Hancock appear to be politically motivated, involving victims who displayed Trump election signs and law enforcement stickers and flags commonly referred to as "thin blue line" paraphernalia."

"It is believed that the person driving the ATV is involved in all three incidents," police added "Be aware, the subject appeared to target both Trump and Law Enforcement supporters."

The 80-year-old was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. Police said the suspect is believed to have committed suicide.

Republicans were enraged over the brutal attack and they plan to rally on Saturday in support of the unidentified victim.

"We will not stand for political violence here in Houghton County and we will rally together as a family to show the world that we will never be intimidated for our unyielding support for President Donald J Trump," read a statement from the Cooper Country Republican Party.

Hancock is a small city of around 5,000 in northwestern Michigan, in the state's Upper Peninsula. Subscribe for free to Breaking Christian News here
