FBI Stops Alleged ISIS Plot to Kill Texas Congressman"Preserving our constitutional republic from radical Islam means accepting the costs that come with it—name-calling, threats, and worse. Our Founders believed this country was worth the sacrifice ...This only strengthens my resolve. I will not back down." - Rep. Keith Self
A domestic terror plot allegedly tied to ISIS and targeting a sitting member of Congress has put North Texas on edge and renewed urgent questions about the reach of radical Islamic ideology on American soil. For Christians who intercede for the nation's leaders and pray for the preservation of constitutional freedoms, this case is a striking reminder that the threats facing this republic are as spiritual as they are physical. Rep. Keith Self (R-TX), a 25-year military veteran who recently co-founded a congressional caucus to push back against Sharia law in the United States, was allegedly marked for assassination by a teenager from McKinney. Federal law enforcement intervened before a planned October 17 attack could be carried out. From the Daily Wire:
Because the suspect is a minor, federal authorities have not released his identity or stated a confirmed motive for targeting Self specifically. The congressman said he could not prove the connection to his political work but pointed to the alleged ISIS affiliation as telling. "If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck," he said. Self is currently running for a third term in Congress. In a notable show of bipartisan unity, Self's Democratic challenger, Evan Hunt, condemned the alleged plot without qualification. Hunt called political violence unacceptable under any circumstances and said every elected official, along with their families and staff, deserves to be safe regardless of party. He credited federal law enforcement for moving to protect public servants and urged that political differences be resolved through debate and at the ballot box. Paul's warning in Ephesians 6:12—that the Believer's struggle is ultimately not against flesh and blood but against spiritual principalities—rarely feels more concrete than in a case like this. A teenager allegedly recruited by a foreign terrorist organization to kill a US congressman for opposing Sharia law is a collision of spiritual and physical warfare that should move every intercessor to their knees. Rep. Self's defiance reflects a conviction many Christian Americans share: that the freedoms enshrined in the Constitution are worth defending at personal cost, and that a republic rooted in Judeo-Christian values cannot peacefully coexist with an ideology that places divine law above civil law. Intercessors can stand in the gap for elected officials who are willing to speak plainly about these threats, for the law enforcement officers who quietly monitor and intervene, and for the soul of a young man drawn into radicalization. Let's pray for Rep. Self and his family, asking God to surround them with His protection and keep them in His peace; for the FBI agents and federal officers who monitored this threat and made the arrest; for wisdom in the courts as a minor faces serious federal charges; and for God's redemptive reach into the life of a teenager who was led into an ideology of hatred. May the Lord guard His servants in every arena of public life and give courage to those who refuse to be silenced. Subscribe for free to Breaking Christian News here
