Recent Poll Finds Shocking Support for Sharia Law by America's Youth; Here's What They Don't Understand

"Have we learned nothing from Europe's mistakes?" -RAIR Foundation

[Breaking Christian News] An article this week by The Federalist highlighted the results of two polls which revealed a large number of young, but eligible voters in the US think favorably of the rigid Islamic set of rules known as "sharia law." (Image: Pexels)

According to the Our Republic poll:

Overall, 21% of likely voters said they have a mostly or somewhat positive opinion of sharia, compared with 57% who have a negative opinion. Positive views were much higher among younger Americans, including 43% of voters ages 18–24 and 39% of those ages 25–29.

But would these young people feel the same if they really knew what sharia law entails?

Here are just a few examples of the oppressive nature (especially toward women) of sharia law:

  • Theft is punishable by amputation of the hands (see above and Quran 5:38).
  • Criticizing or denying any part of the Quran is punishable by death.
  • Homosexuality is punishable by death but sodomizing boys is fine (see Islam & Sex).
  • Girls' cl*toris should be cut (Muhammad's words, Book 41, Kitab Al-Adab, Hadith 5251).
  • Muslim men have sexual rights to any woman/girl not wearing the Hijab (see Taharrush).
  • A woman's testimony in court, allowed in property cases, carries ½ the weight of a man's.
  • A woman cannot speak alone to a man who is not her husband or relative.
  • Meat to eat must come from animals that have been sacrificed to Allah - i.e., be "Halal."
  • Muslims should engage in Taqiyya and lie to non-Muslims to advance Islam...

These are just a handful of examples provided by BillionBibles.org, to read more, Click Here.

Granted, not all Muslims adhere to sharia law, and there are different degrees of adherence among those who do.

But the above is what is NOT shared, or is watered down when bringing the topic to young people, and those who are not informed on Islam.

This week, the RAIR Foundation sent out a warning to California parents that the group included in public schools there as a "club," the Muslim Student Association is now "directing students to Friday prayers, including prayer at a mosque." Indeed! The enemy seems to be working overtime on America's young people from elementary schools all the way up through universities.

The Dissimilarity of Sharia to the US Constitution and Christianity

As parents, and grandparents, we must be praying for our youth and making sure they understand the brilliant Constitution on which America was founded, and how the freedom it ensures stands in complete contrast to Islam's sharia law.

That fundamental point is displayed in an essay written back in 2018 by Jeremy Nelson titled: "The US Constitution and Sharia Law."

In it, Nelson first describes just what sharia is, and then how it differs from our Constitution.

He lists eight main points of how the Constitution is in direct contrast from sharia:

Whether pursued through the violent form of jihad (holy war) or stealthier practices that shariah Islamists often refer to as "dawa" (the "call to Islam"), shariah rejects fundamental premises of American society and values:

  1. the bedrock proposition that the governed have a right to make law for themselves;

  2. the democratic republic governed by the Constitution;

  3. freedom of conscience; individual liberty

  4. freedom of expression (including the liberty to analyze and criticize shariah);

  5. economic liberty (including private property);

  6. equal treatment under the law (including that of men and women, and of Muslims and non-Muslims);

  7. freedom from cruel and unusual punishments; an unequivocal condemnation of terrorism (i.e., one that is based on a common sense meaning of the term and does not rationalize barbarity as legitimate "resistance"); and

  8. an abiding commitment to deflate and resolve political controversies by the ordinary mechanisms of our democratic republic, not wanton violence...

Nelson goes on to note that America's founders were familiar with the problematic tenets inherent in Islam, as they had even inquired of the Islamic leaders of the time the reasons for their violent actions against others.

In 1786, Thomas Jefferson, ambassador to France, and John Adams, ambassador to England, met with the emissary of the Islamic potentates of Tripoli to Britain, Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja, regarding the demands for tribute being made at the time by the so-called Barbary Pirates...

Nelson includes an excerpt the 4-page report sent by Jefferson and Adams. What they discovered about the Islamists seems still to be true of radicalized Muslims today:

"We took the liberty to make some inquiries concerning the Grounds of their pretentions to make war upon Nations who had done them no Injury, and observed that we considered all mankind as our friends who had done us no wrong, nor had given us any provocation.

"The Ambassador answered us that it was founded on the Laws of their prophet, that it was written in their Qur'an, that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as Prisoners, and that every Musselman [Muslim] who should be slain in battle was sure to go to Paradise."

Nelson also quoted from John Quincy Adams (John Adams' son), the 6th US president, who wrote a "136-page series of essays" on Islam, in comparison to Christianity:

"...[Mohammed] declared undistinguishing and exterminating war, as a part of his religion, against all the rest of mankind... The precept of the Quran is, perpetual war against all who deny, that [Mohammed] is the prophet of God...

"...This appeal to the natural hatred of the Mussulmen towards the infidels is in just accordance with the precepts of the Quran. The document [the Quran] does not attempt to disguise it, nor even pretend that the enmity of those whom it styles the infidels, is any other than the necessary consequence of the hatred borne by the Mussulmen to them - the paragraph itself, is a forcible example of the contrasted character of the two religions.

"The fundamental doctrine of the Christian religion is the extirpation of hatred from the human heart. It forbids the exercise of it, even towards enemies. There is no denomination of Christians, which denies or misunderstands this doctrine. All understand it alike - all acknowledge its obligations; and however imperfectly, in the purposes of Divine Providence, its efficacy has been shown in the practice of Christians, it has not been wholly inoperative upon them. Its effect has been upon the manners of nations. It has mitigated the horrors of war - it has softened the features of slavery - it has humanized the intercourse of social life. The unqualified acknowledgement of a duty does not, indeed, suffice to insure its performance. Hatred is yet a passion, but too powerful upon the hearts of Christians. Yet they cannot indulge it, except by the sacrifice of their principles, and the conscious violation of their duties. No state paper from a Christian hand, could, without trampling the precepts of its Lord and Master, have commenced by an open proclamation of hatred to any portion of the human race. The Ottoman lays it down as the foundation of his discourse."

 Nelson concludes his article by stating that:

...It is the mainstream doctrine of shariah that constitutes the threat to the US Constitution and the freedoms it enshrines. That incompatibility has several practical implications: For one thing, the shariah legal code cannot be insinuated into America - even through stealthy means or democratic processes - without violating the Constitution's Article VI Supremacy Clause, which requires that the Constitution "shall be the supreme Law of the land."

This is the kind of thing that should be taught in American public education, but I'm afraid current curricula is likely far from it, and in some cases, more to the opposite, as in the aforementioned California school.

I present this commentary as a wake-up call to all of us, myself included, who are parents and grandparents, and who love our country and our youth. May we be vigilant in prayer for them. Subscribe for free to Breaking Christian News here
