Hernandez, a Jurupa Valley High School senior, has sparked outrage in the past for competing against female athletes in both track and volleyball.

At a postseason California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) track event, transgender Hernandez won the triple jump by nearly three feet and the long jump by more than a foot. He also tied for first in the high jump. Hernandez, a Jurupa Valley High School senior, has sparked outrage in the past for competing against female athletes in both track and volleyball.

Outside Saturday's event, a "Save Girls' Sports" rally organized by former NCAA women's soccer player Sophia Lorey was held to protest allowing a biological male to compete against genuine girls.

In a statement to Fox News Digital, Democrat California Governor Gavin Newsom condemned the "Save Girls' Sports" protest as "the right wing's cynical attempt to weaponize this debate":

"'The Governor has said discussions on this issue should be guided by fairness, dignity, and respect. He rejects the right wing's cynical attempt to weaponize this debate as an excuse to vilify individual kids. The Governor's position is simple: stand with all kids and stand up to bullies,' the statement read."

When Hernandez competed in women's volleyball tournaments, some female athletes quit, rather than compete against him.

Women's tennis legend Martina Navratilova and two women's Olympic gold medalists, Nancy Hogshead and Kaillie Humphries, spoke out against allowing biological male Hernandez to compete in Saturday's event for girls. Riley Gaines, a 12-time NCAA All-American athlete, also cheered Saturday's "Save Girls' Sports" rally in a social media post. Subscribe for free to Breaking Christian News here
