The Fate of Iran's National Women's Football Team Took a Deceptive Turn at the Last Minute; What Will Happen to Them?

Aimee Herd : Mar 11, 2026  Tousi TV

"They were being dragged to the [bus to bring them to the] plane, they didn't want to go. And once they were on the coach, once again they were sending signals for help, but by then it was too late." -Mahyar Tousi, Tousi TV

[Breaking Christian News] After bravely protesting Iran's Islamic regime by refusing to sing the country's national anthem while attending the Asia Cup in Australia, the Iranian Women's Football team found themselves in a very dangerous situation with the IRGC. Six of the team members were able to get away from the handlers overseeing them and defected to Australia; the rest were not so lucky.

President Trump pressured the Australian Prime Minister to intervene on the girls' behalf.

According to a report on Tousi TV, although the Australian Prime Minister had told President Trump that some of the members of the team wanted to return to Iran in fear of what would happen to their families otherwise, it seems that may not have been entirely accurate.

Mahyar Tousi of Tousi TV:

"The Australians lied to President Trump ... Five of [the Iranian National Women's Football team] managed to escape [their IRGC handlers] and defect to Australia. Then President Trump called [PM Anthony] Albanese, and told him he had to help the others, they're going to be sent back and they're gonna get arrested and get killed. Albanese said, Don't worry we're on top of it, everything's fine... Then, we even got another one, so 6 people [defected from IRGC Iran], and then another one managed to escape last night."  (Screengrab image: via Tousi TV)

In a later report, Tousi noted that the seventh girl that escaped was pressured with threats against her family back in Iran, and gave in, going back to the Islamic authorities overseeing the team.

"So, [six] Iranian footballers managed to run away from the IRGC handlers, the rest of them are being sent back home. They are now on the plane [going] back home. While the Australian authorities stood by and watched it happen.

"They were being dragged to the [bus to bring them to the] plane, they didn't want to go. And once they were on the coach, once again they were sending signals for help, but by then it was too late.

"[PM] Albanese told us the others wanted to go back to Iran voluntarily, because they were scared that if they didn't something would happen to their family members. But then we saw the latest, and the evidence that it was a lie told to the Australians by the IRGC that are in Australia. ... The reality is that they forced them on, dragged them on ... they were still seen flashing the S.O.S. signs with their phones as they were boarding the plane. They didn't want to go back. In a Tuesday evening report by Tousi, video revealed the team had landed in Malaysia to board the next flight to Iran.

"Now they've gone back to Iran, whatever's going to happen is going to happen," said Tousi. (Click Here to watch Tousi's report)
