Certainly, prior to his entering politics, Zelensky was somewhat of a household name in Ukraine, as a comedian, an actor and a producer. He created the satirical TV series called, "Servant of the People," where he played a schoolteacher who becomes the country's president. It wasn't until 2018 that he announced he was running to actually be president of Ukraine.

So, why did President Trump recently denounce him as a "dictator?"

Last week, former Fox News host-turned successful podcaster, Tucker Carlson welcomed on his show a man who agreed with Trump's assessment of Zelensky.

Bob Amsterdam is a human rights lawyer, who's been working in Ukraine for the last few years, representing the Ukrainian Orthodox Church pro bono.

Why would a Jewish attorney from New York City represent an orthodox Christian church in eastern Europe free of charge?

As Amsterdam says, "I represent the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. So our parishioners go to the front [lines of battle in the war], while their churches are being stolen back home—while elderly parishioners and priests are being beaten. What I've always said to people back home who defend Zelensky is, 'All his numbers are complete fabrications. If he was popular, if he was trusted, he wouldn't have destroyed the press, he wouldn't be jailing and labeling with treason charges political opponents, and there would've been some control on the corruption.' "The dishonesty of some of the people who are reporting from Ukraine is astounding," added Amsterdam, "I've never seen anything like it."

Amsterdam has been branded by some as being "pro-Putin," however, he notes he represents opponents of the Russian government and has even been "banned from Russia," after having been arrested there years ago.

But he says it hasn't stopped the Ukrainian government from launching a "massive disinformation campaign" against him, because of his "defense of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which is the majority church of Ukraine, which Zelensky and his gang have been trying to destroy."
