The HBO host asked a guest on Friday how the economy was doing under Trump, shares the Washington Examiner. The guest, Shermichael Singleton, answered that it was doing well, "for now." That led Maher to share his 'hope' for America: "I feel like the bottom has to fall out at some point, and by the way, I'm hoping for it," he said.
