We are on solid Biblical ground with our proclamations! Psalm 48 is a bold declaration about Jerusalem's status as Israel's eternal capital, God's own delight in Jerusalem, and His promise to be her Defender forever (v. 8).

In this psalm of praise for Jerusalem, it is called the city of our God, His holy mountain and the joy of the whole earth. God is said to be in her citadels; He has shown Himself to be her fortress (vv. 1–3).

Moreover, the reader is invited to Walk about Zion, go around her, count her towers, consider well her ramparts, view her citadels (vv. 12–13) as evidence of the Holy City's security under God's watchful eye.

So today, we accept this Biblical invitation to go around Jerusalem, to rally around the Holy City in unbroken solidarity with her people, with the nation of Israel, and with the God of Israel Himself!
