"It's not an exaggeration to say that the survival of our species depends" on population control, Kristen Pyszczyk wrote. Even though population control "carries with it associations with eugenics and other nasty historical events ... we still need to talk about it..." Quoting Stephen Hawking and speculating that humans might need to colonize another planet within 100 years to survive, Pyszczyk urged, "let's lighten the load, friends." The idea that procreation is fulfilling needs to be challenged, Pyszczyk wrote, and "women need to be presented with options for a fulfilling life that don't involve taking 20 years of their lives to care for offspring." It's "great" that people are beginning to react in a hostile way to large families, she wrote, but "we need to go much farther." Click here to continue reading.
