Morgan Freeman Says the Only Way to Get Rid of Racism is to "Stop Talking About It"Comment by Founding Editor, Steve Shultz: It is a clear fact that there is racism. It's also clear that most of us feel we are not racist ourselves, though we probably carry more racism than we'd like to believe. Nevertheless, when someone with the status of Morgan Freeman (one of my favorite actors, by the way), speaks, I do listen carefully. Perhaps if we stopped beating the drum of racism and simply looked into our own mirrors of racist attitudes, more would be accomplished than by the way we've addressed it the last 10 years or so. He then said that the only way to get rid of racism is to just "stop talking about it," adding that the labels "black" and "white" are an obstacle to beating racism. "I am going to stop calling you a white man and I'm going to ask you to stop calling me a black man," Freeman says.

Morgan Freeman recently made a statement that is sure to resonate with many Americans. In a CBS - 60 Minutes interview to air Sunday, he is quoted as saying that the concept of a month dedicated to black history is "ridiculous...I don't want a black history month. Black history is American history."
