His family announced his passing on Smalley's Facebook page Tuesday, "It is with heavy hearts that we announce Dr. Gary Smalley, at age 75, graduated to Heaven last night."

The post continued, "This beautiful transition came to an end as these words were spoken over him 'The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;' Numbers 6:24-25."

Smalley was also mourned online by his Focus on the Family Colleague, Jim Daly.

"I especially loved Gary's sense of humor," recalled Daly on his blog.

"He took the subject of marriage and family seriously, but he didn't take himself too seriously," Daly added.

According to Smalley's Facebook page he was, "the author and co-author of over 60 best-selling, award-winning books along with several popular films and videos, which have sold over 12 million copies."

The Smalley family also posted their gratitude for the "outpouring of love and support" on his Facebook page.

Arrangements for the memorial service are being handled by the Smalley family.
