Impassioned Actress Takes Stand for Praying in Public on "The View": How It Was Received?

"The separation of church and state does not mean that we cannot pray publicly." –Candice Cameron Bure

(New York, NY)—Actress Candice Cameron Bure, one of the new co-hosts on the women's talk show "The View," is certainly an outspoken Christian, as evidenced this week on the show. (Screengrab via The Blaze)

On Monday, one of the topics that came up for discussion centered on Joe Kennedy, the high-school football coach in Washington state who has refused to stop praying his private post-game prayers on the football field.

Bure praised the coach saying, "The separation of church and state does not mean that we cannot pray publicly. It actually guarantees our free exercise of religion so that if it is voluntary, we are allowed to pray wherever we would like to."

Though most of the cast on "The View" agreed that the coach was within his rights to pray because he was doing it privately, co-host Raven-Symone vehemently disagreed.

"That's not fair to somebody who doesn't pray," she said.

"Well," replied Bure, "If people would actually put more effort into prayer than to fight prayer, you would see a whole difference in this country to see that power of prayer."
