The Free Festival Features Top Gospel And Christian Music, and Provides Family Health Services

(Harlem, NY)—This Saturday, May 30, NY CityFest-Harlem will be hosting a free festival at Marcus Garvey Park (18 Mount Morris Park West) featuring top national Gospel and Christian music artists, a health and services fair for families, activities for children, and renowned evangelist Andrew Palau will be sharing his inspirational message of "good news in the city."

The free event will begin at 1pm with the Health & Service Fair, followed by the main stage performances and testimonies at 2:45pm.

Performing at the festival on Saturday are Grammy-winning Gospel superstar, Bishop Hezekiah Walker, Grammy-nominated gospel singer-songwriter Vashawn Mitchell and Christian hip hop artist and producer Andy Mineo.

In partnership with Urban Outreach, NY CityFest-Harlem is a celebration of NY CityServe, an outreach that launched in NYC in Sept. 2014 after 1,000 local business and political and faith leaders representing 1,200 churches, nonprofit organizations and local government initiatives from the five boroughs and additional outlying areas—came together and pledged to love and serve all of New York City. To date, tens of thousands have been served by the collaborative efforts in New York City, New Jersey and Connecticut, with many more events planned.

The largest NY CityServe event will take place on July 11 when NY CityFest with Luis Palau, a massive free festival on the Great Lawn in Central Park, will bring a constellation of stars from music, television and sport together to perform and inspire, including Grammy-Award winning artists’ Mandisa, Toby Mac, Marcos Witt, Israel Houghton, Matt Redman, and Hezekiah Walker, alongside celebrity speakers such as Mariano Rivera and Myrka Dellanos.

CityServe was founded in Portland, Oregon in 2008 after the Palau Association partnered with leaders in the faith, civic, and business communities to work for the common good in that city. More than 27,000 volunteers from all sectors of society participated in this very first "Season of Service." Today, the initiative has become a long-term vision for city transformation. Through collaborative efforts and partnership, other cities followed suit. Houston, San Diego, Sacramento, Little Rock, Phoenix, Seattle, and many other cities now have their own growing movements.
