Dr. Alveda King: Ferguson, Abortion, Human Trafficking: are Endemic, Systematic and Symptomatic

Dr. Alveda King : Mar 13, 2015  Dr. Aveda King-Media Release

"Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into friend." -Martin Luther King, Jr.

(Atlanta, GA)—Dr. Alveda King, Director of African American Outreach for Priests for Life writes: "n light of [this week's] headlines, the shooting of two police officers in Ferguson, and The US Senates gridlock over how to help female victims of human trafficking, we have little choice than to look at these problems as endemic, systematic and symptomatic. We see before our very eyes people rejoicing over the shooting of law enforcement officials, Congress denying genuine health care for women, and tax dollars paying for abortions. Our enemies without, hiding behind their masks of terrorism are laughing at us. We are destroying ourselves.

"People, our society is sick. We need a healing quick. Forgiveness is the medicine. Love is the key. Are our problems endemic?"

ENDEMIC
a: belonging or native to a particular people or country
b: characteristic of or prevalent in a particular field, area, or environment <problems endemic to translation> <the self-indulgence endemic in the film industry>
2. restricted or peculiar to a locality or region <endemic diseases> <an endemic species>

"So yes, our problems are endemic. Are they systemic?"

SYSTEMIC
1. of or relating to a system.
2. Physiology, Pathology.
a. pertaining to or affecting the body as a whole.
b. pertaining to or affecting a particular body system.
3. (of a pesticide) absorbed and circulated by a plant or other organism so as to be lethal to pests that feed on it.

"Yes, our problems are systemic, affecting the entire body of human beings living in America.

"Are our problems symptomatic?"

SYMPTOMATIC
1. pertaining to a symptom or symptoms.
2. of the nature of or constituting a symptom; indicative (often fol by of):
a condition symptomatic of cholera; a disagreement that was symptomatic of the deterioration in their relationship.
3. according to symptoms :
a symptomatic classification of disease.

"Yes, our problems are symptomatic, and we have the multiple outbreaks of violence, erupting in the rashes of dead police officers, the dead youths, the dead womb babies, the victims of human trafficking, the sick and elderly, the illiterate, and the neglected poor and so many others to prove it.

"What is happening in Ferguson and in outbursts all over America give concrete evidence that when we disregard the right to life of our weakest—babies in the womb, the sick and elderly, the victims of human trafficking—we care little for any human lives, including law enforcement and our young men gunned down on our streets and in our communities. Again, the terrorists are at the door, and alas, the doors of hatred are open. Hate breeds more hate. (Photo via CNN)

"What do we want? Dead cops! What do we want? Aborted babies! What do we want? What do we really want?

"The Bible says: 'The Lord tests the righteous, but His soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence.' Psalm 11:5

"For those who say that I quote the Bible too much, I will share some words from my famous Uncle MLK—which I learned not only from MLK, but from my father A. D. King and my grandfather Daddy King. Read KING RULES.

"I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality... I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word." -Martin Luther King, Jr.

"Folks, It's time to forget to play the race card, and to play the 'full in God we trust' deck. Let the Church say AMEN."
