The Southern sports pundit is weighing a run for the Senate as a Republican. If he runs, he would campaign to replace Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), who is running for governor of Alabama.

The Athletic reports:

Finebaum, who recently relocated from Charlotte,NC, back to his longtime home in Birmingham, AL, said he would be running as a Republican and would likely aim to fill the seat now occupied by former Auburn and Ole Miss coach Tommy Tuberville, who is running for governor in Alabama. The radio personality, always tight-lipped about his political leanings, told the outlet he voted for President Donald Trump in the 2024 election and that ESPN tells employees not to discuss politics.

Finebaum told The Athletic over the summer that even though he's registered as a Republican and voted for Donald Trump last year, he likes some positions of both political parties and considers himself a moderate. All of that sounds like code words for please don't fire me, ESPN.
