Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat to Attend Jerusalem Event Marking Global Day of Prayer for Jerusalem"We are living in challenging days, when Jerusalem is under tremendous pressure on all sides. (Jerusalem, Israel)?Millions of Christians around the world will join together the same day on Sunday October 3, 2010 to pray during the Global Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem (DPPJ). In Jerusalem the prayer day will be marked by a special live televised celebration on October 3 at the Tayelet Haas Promenade on Daniel Yanofsky Street, overlooking the Old City.
"We are so pleased to have Mayor Barkat bring greetings this year from Jerusalem to the hundreds of thousands of viewers who will join the telecast from nations around the world," said Dr. Stearns. "We are living in challenging days, when Jerusalem is under tremendous pressure on all sides. The prayers of faithful people on her behalf will make a difference, especially as Christians and Jews from the nations, along with Arab Christians and Jews from Israel, stand together in Jerusalem on October 3." Hundreds of thousands will view the televised Jerusalem celebration on the GOD TV international network, while people from more than 300,000 churches are expected to participate in the prayer day in over 175 nations. The local Jerusalem Celebration of the DPPJ on October 3 is being held in cooperation with the Jerusalem Municipality, the Knesset Christian Allies Caucus, and the Israel Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Tourism. Local hosts include Mrs. Rebecca Brimmer, Bridges for Peace; Rev. Malcolm Hedding, International Christian Embassy Jerusalem; Rev. Dr. Petra Heldt, Ecumenical Fraternity; Rev.
