"As long as you are capable, you ought to use what God gave you. He left me here for a reason, and with enough of a mind to do what it is I'm supposed to be doing."

(Weatherford, Texas)—Jack Borden is a 101-year-old attorney who—having practiced law for nearly 70 years, and still spending about 40 hours a week in his office—extols the virtues of working beyond retirement age.

"As long as you are capable, you ought to use what God gave you," says Borden. "He left me here for a reason, and with enough of a mind to do what it is I'm supposed to be doing. If I were to quit, I might last a year, but probably not over six months," he adds. "I have to use a walker because of old age, so there's not much else I could do except sit in my house. Why do that when I can not only enjoy life, but help some people?" (Photo: Rick McKee)

As reported on CNN, Borden is not alone in his passion to work. Take 70-year-old, Yakima, Washington, police officer Preston Brown. According to the report, he didn't even become an officer until he was 51-years-old and being in good shape, he has no plans to retire.

"When I wake up and prepare to leave for work, I'm looking forward to it," h says. "It's challenging and exciting."
