"…We all spend so much of our life just wasted because we don't think we're worthy of the gift that has already been given."

For Christmas one year, all a poor little boy wanted was a shiny new bike he had his eye on. But, all he got was a Christmas sweater. The sweater was a special one though—handmade by his mother. Still, it wasn't that bike.

In a poignant CBN interview, popular radio talk show host, Glenn Beck, talks about his book, The Christmas Sweater, and why the story is so important. (Photo: CBN News)

"[The boy] doesn't realize how much it took for his mother to make that sweater; she dies soon after and his life is set on a different course…," explains Beck. "It is my life, though the characters are changed a little bit…"

Glenn describes when he received his own Christmas sweater from his mother, and how he just threw it on the floor of his room—upset that he wouldn't receive what he really wanted. His mother had come in at that point, and noticed the sweater she'd worked so hard on, laying on the floor.

He says, "I've lived that experience once. I refuse to stand at the feet of the Lord and have Him look at me and say, 'I worked that hard, and gave that [redemption] to you, and you didn't use it?!' We all spend so much of our life just wasted because we don't think we're worthy of the gift that has already been given."
