Alaskans Wearing "It's OK Wish Me A Merry Christmas" Buttons

Teresa Neumann : Dec 23, 2007  Staff - NCN News

"It's not about being antagonistic or aggressive. If someone asks me about it, I explain I celebrate Christmas, and it's OK to wish me a Merry Christmas."

(Fairbanks, Alaska)—NCN News reports that "It's OK Wish Me A Merry Christmas" buttons are popping up on sweaters and lapels around Fairbanks, Alaska, through the efforts of Two Rivers Community Church of the Nazarene.

Two-Rivers pastor, Bob Sugden said, "My congregation has gotten excited about this. One woman said that when she was shopping, she was asked where she got her pin. She took it off and gave it to the person, and put on another one she had in her pocket."

"It's just kind of how I feel without being obtrusive and obnoxious. I'm not going to browbeat anybody. It just gives them the freedom to say 'Merry Christmas' without getting in trouble," said Alma Hauer. "When you spend all this money in a store, it would be nice to be acknowledged why you're spending it."
