More than 72% of Filipinos surveyed said the Bible was their most read book in the past year in a survey conducted by the National Book Development Board, according to UCANews. Children's books held second place, ranking at 53 percent. Books with romantic themes came in at 48 percent, reference books 48 percent, and leisure, entertainment, and hobby books 46 percent. In a sign of deepening faith, Bible readership has risen significantly since 2012, when a similar poll revealed that 58 percent said it was the most read book.
