Doctors and Nurses Who Saved Lives After London Terror Attack are Hailed as HeroesThey “ran towards the danger, even as they encouraged others to move the other way.” — Prime Minister Theresa May
These doctors, nurses and paramedics reportedly had little information about what they would discover at the grisly scene of the attack, where five people — including the perpetrator — were killed and 40 were injured, The Daily Mail reported. “Unbelievably proud to hear the reports of doctors and nurses running from St Thomas’s hospital to help the injured today. Thoughts with them,” Twitter user Rahee Mapara wrote. And Micha Daly added, “Very proud of friends and colleagues working in St. Thomas’ hospital today who rushed to help.” Nurses, doctors and paramedics reportedly flocked across the Westminster Bridge to help those who were hit by a car during the attack as well as those who were stabbed outside Parliament, according to Metro.
“One of the most uplifting scenes amidst the whole tragedy was doctors & nurses rushing out of St. Thomas’ Hospital to help the injured,” he said. “Our emergency services have been superb today, they protect us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. They’ve been heroes.” Prime Minister Theresa May also praised the bravery of first responders who she said “ran towards the danger, even as they encouraged others to move the other way,” noting that at least one of the five fatalities was a police officer. “That they have lost one of their own in today’s attacks only makes their calmness and professionalism under pressure all the more remarkable,” May proclaimed. A politician — MP Tobias Ellwood — has also been hailed as a hero after he was seen attempting to save the life of Keith Palmer, a police officer who was killed during the rampage. And 43-year-old teacher Aysha Frade is another victim who was killed in the attack.
