Max Lucado: Pray God Appoints and Anoints Next President

Teresa Neumann : Aug 17, 2012 : Audrey Barrick – The Christian Post

The best-selling author isn't "freaking out" over upcoming elections: "We believe first and foremost this truth: God is the God of the Nations. Congress doesn't direct the future, God does. Washington doesn't call the shots. God does." -Max Lucado

(San Antonio, TX)—Find yourself anxious about the upcoming national elections? Worried about who will attain the highest governmental seat in the land? Stressed about the state of our nation? If you are, you're certainly not alone.

But, best-selling author Max Lucado maintains there's no reason to be "freaking out."

"We, the children of God, can stay peaceful," he says, regardless of the mess our country is currently in, "because we know that no matter who inhabits the White House, we know that God still sits on His throne."

In a recent sermon at Oak Hills Church, Lucado gave numerous Biblical examples of God ruling monarchs—even those who were unrighteous, like Cyrus of Persia, and said, "Let us be people who vote . . . [but] God is not troubled by one who is conservative or liberal and He certainly never inclines His ear toward a donkey or an elephant . . . God is above them all."

Lucado isn't just resting on his laurels, however, when it comes to politics and the November election. He is launching a 40-day, pre-election prayer initiative.

As reported in The Christian Post, prayer warriors will be asked to pray for God to "unite our country, strengthen us financially and morally," and "appoint and anoint our next president."
