[Breaking Christian News] Once again it seems young girls are having to defend the integrity of competition within their chosen school sport from the unfair inclusion of a biological male athlete. (Screengrab image: via Fox News)

On Tuesday, in the blue, Pacific Northwest state of Washington, cross-country runners lined up for the start of a race, with one conspicuous anomaly towering above the heads of the girls—a lone male runner.

According to the Outkick report on Fox News, the male athlete (Logan Mihailoff) had finished 76th in a boy's junior varsity race in Oregon earlier in September. But, by the middle of the month, he had switched to competing against girls.

About a dozen Camas High School girls had decided to stand up against the inequitable competition, and when the race began, they walked off in protest.

As a side note, a Post Millennial report detailed some of the male athlete's results since he began racing against girls:

By September 26, Mihailoff was competing against girls at the Nike Portland XC Invitational, finishing second out of 195 runners in the girls' junior/senior JV race. Three days later, Mihailoff won the girls' varsity race at the Union/Camas meet, finishing ahead of all 45 other competitors. Camas teammate Natalie Estrada finished second, followed by Union's Frances Armerding. (Emphasis: BCN)

While Camas School District maintained it was following Washington law, one of the girls' parents called the rule into question.

"I don't see how it's OK to discriminate against my daughter and the daughters of everyone else that is trying to fairly compete," said Kevin Burns, father of Holly, one of the protesting girls.

The Outkick report noted that some other parents agreed with the girls' decision, but feared any backlash that could come from making a public stand.

Sarah Burns, Holly's mother talked about one confrontation by a woman who approached her when she was holding a sign against boys in girls' sports.

"I had a lady that came up to me and said she was a psychiatric nurse and that I was a disgusting human for holding up this sign and that I was doing psychological damage to these children," Sarah said. "I told her that one day I'm gonna have to stand before my Lord and Savior and I'm gonna feel good about this."

The parents admitted they don't yet know what will happen to their daughter for her decision to protest.

But they said, "...There's a cost to everything when you stand up for what you believe is right, I think. If there wasn't, then you're not really standing up for anything." Subscribe for free to Breaking Christian News here
