"I still believe in us, oh America, You're still the land I love, though a little bruised up, Stars and Stripes still cry liberty, Over evil, over tyranny..." -Danny Gokey, from "My America"
[Breaking Christian News] I had the opportunity, last week, to watch the beginning of the March For Life rally in Washington DC. It began with an inspiring time of worship and song led by one-time American Idol finalist Danny Gokey. (Screengrab image)
As the snow poured down like white rain, the music seemed to warm the hearts of the bundled-up crowd, while they held signs, sang along, cheered and worshiped the Lord.
And, despite how cold it must've been, Danny's voice held up wonderfully, especially when he sang one of his latest songs, which he'd written last year, "My America." (Screengrab image)
The song is both an anthem for every American about our country, and a rallying cry to stand by her, most importantly during this year.
Here's an excerpt of the lyrics:
"I hear them say, 'Our country's far too gone'
Even claim, 'Our fathers got it wrong'
But I won't give up on us, and I'll take a stand
'Cause we can overcome, this is not the end
I still believe in us, oh America
You're still the land I love, though a little bruised up
Stars and Stripes still cry liberty
Over evil, over tyranny
Blood poured out for our freedom
They sacrificed it all for this nation
I still believe in us, my America"
As I listened to the song—it was my first time hearing it—I felt this is a very important anthem for our country in this season. And one to prompt intercession for the USA. Subscribe for free to Breaking Christian News here
