Massachusetts Takes Daughter from Catholic Parents for Refusing to Affirm Trans Identity"We are actively fighting in court to keep them from really poisoning this young lady with testosterone that would have the capacity to cause her to become potentially infertile, would harm her cardiovascular system, and would have a number of irreversible effects and harms to her body."
"Here, a public school is ‘stuck on stupid' by engaging in the willful and dehumanizing practice of destroying both family and child. This school should be closed permanently," Walt Heyer, senior fellow at Family Research Council, told The Washington Stand. "The school abused the child emotionally and psychologically, causing lifelong damage. My life was destroyed by the trans insanity. Stop the madness." Fox News reported that a permanent restraining order was issued against the family, and the Department of Children and Families (DCF) cut off the Kutzkos' contact with their daughter, Sophie, when they refused to refer to her by male pronouns. Fox also reported that the Kutzkos say DCF has "housed their daughter in a boys' dormitory, stripped away her Catholic faith by denying her Sunday Mass, and put her on birth control and psychiatric drugs." "In Massachusetts today, a sizable portion of government and the population will call you a good mom if you violently strangle your own three kids to death but will take custody of your teenage daughter away from you if you don't want her to be castrated & mutilated by the gender lobby. Let that sink in," Daily Wire personality Isabel Brown posted on X Monday. The Kutzkos appeared on the Fox News "Lighthouse Faith" podcast hosted by Religion Correspondent Lauren Green to share about the dire situation over the weekend, alongside their attorney Vernadette Broyles. "The Northborough-Southborough public schools and their counseling practices exposed our daughter to teachings on LGBTQ ideology and topics that conflict with our Catholic beliefs about human dignity, creation as male and female in Catholic teaching," Joseph Kutzko said. He continued, "Our daughter had been placed in counseling with sessions at Algonquin Regional High School with school counselor ... Denise Brienze, without our knowledge or consent. We were told she was simply staying after school for extra math help." The Kutzkos say that they have not been able to have contact with their daughter since January 2025. "I even begged them [to allow me] just to hug her or kiss her. They say they can't. They will not allow it," Arlene Kutzko explained. Just months before Sophie was taken from them, she wrote her dad a heartfelt birthday card. In October of 2024, her words to her father said, "Without you, I would have nothing. So wholeheartedly, fully, sincerely. I love you with no end," Joseph read during an appearance on "America's Newsroom" with Bill Hemmer and Dana Perino. The Kutzkos explained that Sophie grew up loving church. "She led the parish in rosary before mass, and she was so faithful—everybody in the church knew it—that she was given a special dispensation to be confirmed early. So, one year early, she was allowed to make her confirmation." But at age 15, Sophie started experiencing some inner turmoil. Next thing they knew, the Kutzkos were losing custody of their daughter. They had no idea what had been going on at the school. "The most important thing is to bring her back to our family. But a shorter-term goal is to prevent them from giving her testosterone," Joseph Kutzko reiterated. Boyer explained that under Massachusetts state law, DCF could administer the hormones to Sophie without her parents' permission even though she is still a minor. "We are actively fighting in court to keep them from really poisoning this young lady with testosterone that would have the capacity to cause her to become potentially infertile, would harm her cardiovascular system, and would have a number of irreversible effects and harms to her body," Boyer lamented. She added that DCF is hoping to move forward with giving Sophie the testosterone. Time may be running out, but the Kutzkos are actively working to bring their daughter home. "We love her. We love her. We miss her," Joseph Kutzko wanted people to know. Subscribe for free to Breaking Christian News here Quinn Delamater is a reporter for The Washington Stand.
