Denver Communists Target Christian Coffee House

Todd Starnes : Aug 19, 2026  ToddStarnes.com

Sanchez says he refuses to respond to the hostility with hatred. "The communists have told me I'm not welcome, told me to kill myself, and my response is, 'I love you, and you are welcome to come in peacefully,'" he said.

The Drip Café, located in Denver's Art District on Santa Fe Drive, was founded by Jamie Sanchez as an extension of his homeless ministry, Recycle God's Love. The café provides jobs and mentoring to people transitioning out of homelessness and addiction.

But Sanchez says trouble started before the coffee shop even opened.

"It was really strange, actually, because we all of a sudden started getting like messages on Instagram about how we hate gay people," Sanchez told Fox News Digital. He said activists organized a protest before opening day and that the opposition was connected to the ministry's Christian beliefs.

"We've been targeted specifically because we're Christian," he said. "I feel like my civil rights as a Christian, Hispanic business owner are being tossed out the window to allow these people to harass me outside my coffee shop."

The Denver Communists and LGBTQ activists have repeatedly demonstrated outside the café, objecting to Recycle God's Love's statement that homosexuality is sinful. Local outlet Westword reported one protester made the activists' objective clear.

"Our goal is to drive them out," Tyler Schillings said. "We want their business to not exist."

The protests have continued into 2026. In July, the Colorado Times Recorder reported roughly 15 to 20 members of the Denver Communists, Trans Empowerment Alliance and Bread & Roses Legal Center gathered outside the café following a call by conservative activists to support the business.

The campaign against Drip has gone far beyond peaceful disagreement.

Fox News Digital reported the café has suffered broken windows, vandalism and stickers placed on its property. A spray-painted image depicting a hanging Ku Klux Klan member was also reportedly left on the front door. Sanchez said protesters once followed two elderly women inside the business and on another occasion screamed at a blind Christian DJ.

"Here's this group trying to act inclusive, and they are harassing a black blind guy in front of my café because he's Christian," Sanchez told Fox News.

Sanchez says he refuses to respond to the hostility with hatred.

"The communists have told me I'm not welcome, told me to kill myself, and my response is, 'I love you, and you are welcome to come in peacefully,'" he said.

And despite the protesters' stated goal of driving Drip out of business, the coffee shop remains open—serving coffee, helping the homeless and holding Christian worship events while demonstrators gather outside.

The plight of the Sanchez family and Christians in Denver should serve as a wakeup call as Communism spreads across the nation. I provide clear answers and solutions on how we should respond to the threat of the Communist movement in my new book, "The Golden Age: How Trump Saved America."
