Kennedy's press secretary, Stefanie Spear told CBS News, "Mr. Kennedy no longer has USSS." It was only a month ago that Biden had finally afforded Kennedy USSS protection, following the assassination attempt on President Trump. The CBS report said that Kennedy had "long requested the protection for the independent presidential candidate—an issue that was especially acute for Kennedy, whose father and uncle were assassinated in the 1960s." The USSS is reportedly "required by law" to provide protection for presidential candidates and their spouses "within 120 days of a general election," noted CBS.
