On Monday night, the delegates at the Democratic National Convention voted for their party's platform.  The New York Times calls it "political comfort food." It's a predictable grab bag of policy issues designed to drive Democrats and left-leaning Independents to the polls, especially now that ...Biden is off the ticket.

The Democratic National Committee states that the platform "offers a vision for a progressive agenda that we can build on as a nation." For instance, there's the call to make corporations and the wealthy "pay their fair share in taxes," lowering costs on gas, food, housing, and healthcare, curb gun rights, slow climate change, and offer a "pathway to citizenship" for people in the country illegally.

You can read the Democratic Party Platform here. Sadly, there isn't anything comforting when it comes to their plans to harm and kill children through abortion or transgenderism.

A National Abortion Law

In their platform, Democrats are promising to vigorously take up the "fight to restore reproductive freedom for every woman in every state." They promise to "pass national legislation to make Roe the law of the land again" (Page 49). This means the legal consequence of every state ban limiting or ending abortion could then be null and void. This is known as the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution where federal law supersedes state law. Currently 22 states ban or restrict abortion, while 19 states allow abortions until 24 weeks or fetal viability, and 6 states allow abortions until birth.

If Congress passed a bill allowing abortion with no limits (...Harris' position), and it is signed into law by the president, the entire country would be under that law despite the state laws that exist. I doubt the Supreme Court would declare a national law on abortion passed following constitutional procedure unconstitutional. And once a law is passed, it is very difficult to overturn... even by a future Congress and president. But if a law is not passed, Harris supports her Justice Department, not the Supreme Court, challenging state abortion bans as unconstitutional. A Harris presidency will ensure our tax dollars funding efforts to legalize and expand abortion, one way or another.

And when Democrats refer to reproductive "freedom" or "reproductive healthcare" what they mean is unlimited access to abortion with no restrictions. They certainly don't mean supporting women who choose to keep their babies or the work of pro-life pregnancy centers. In Massachusetts, for instance, the state government began running first-in-the-nation ads highlighting the "dangers" of crisis pregnancy centers—paid for with taxpayer dollars. As Attorney General, Harris displayed her own hostility to these centers and to pro-life activists. The Biden-Harris DOJ has also been relentlessly prosecuting peaceful protestors praying outside abortion clinics in an attempt to scare and silence pro-lifers.

But are abortions really healthcare when 96.5% are for social and economic reasons?

According to the National Institutes of Health, the main reasons women give for getting an abortion range from a baby would interfere with education or work, can't afford a baby, not ready for a baby, done with having babies, or don't want to be a single mother. Not one is a healthcare reason. But each reason given is a pathway for our prayers. See below.

Children are Not Safe

In addition to the tragedy of abortion, the Democratic platform is also fully supportive of transgenderism with its' full-throated inclusion of Orwellian "medically-necessary gender-affirming care." This term describes the cutting and mutilation of children's sexual organs, along with puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones that sterilize children.

The platform states Democrats will "vigorously oppose state and federal bans on gender-affirming care" and "respect the role of parents, families, and doctors—and not politicians—in making healthcare decisions" (Page 57).

But is there respect for parents who do not want their child to receive life-changing drugs and irreversible surgeries for their minor kids? No.

Tim Walz, the Democratic vice-president nominee, supports removing children from their parents' custody if they do not support a child's gender change care. We've seen this happen in other states as well. Could this become federal law with a Democratic Congress and President committed to the trans agenda?

Walz also signed into law making Minnesota a 'trans sanctuary state," welcoming children to come to Minnesota to get their sex-change surgeries, with or without parental consent.

The platform states Democrats support a nationwide ban on what they call "conversion therapy," which in practice prohibits therapists from exploring or even asking children why they think they might be gay, non-binary, or trans. Tim Walz has already signed that ban into law in Minnesota. Yet de-transitioners (people who decide to return to their God-given sex) criticize this lack of therapy, saying they were rushed into transitioning with little to no psychological assessment.

The DNC platform also calls to "fight book bans that censor LGBTQ+ content." These books often contain graphic and explicit sexual content and can be found in your school and local libraries. While the platform doesn't come right out and say it, it does appear they support pornographic materials for children.

Planned Parenthood is even offering free abortions and vasectomies at the DNC to show "what is possible when policies truly support accessible reproductive healthcare."

Children are not safe under the Democratic Platform.

So how do we pray?

To pray for the DNC, I recommend IFA's 5 Prayers for the DNC.

Pray that every unrighteous DNC platform plank idea would come to naught. 

He thwarts the plans of the crafty, so that their hands achieve no success. He catches the wise in their craftiness, and the schemes of the wily are swept away (Job 5:12).

Devise your strategy, but it will be thwarted; propose your plan, but it will not stand, for God is with us (Isaiah 8:10).

Though they plan evil against you, though they devise mischief, they will not succeed (Psalm 21:11).

The Lord foils the plans of the nations; He thwarts the purposes of the peoples (Psalm 33:10).

Do not kill the innocent and righteous (Exodus 23:7b).

Lord, we know that the plans You have for children—not to harm them and to give hope and a future (see Jeremiah 29:11). We pray against the evil plans in the DNC platform to harm innocent children through abortion and transgenderism. These plans are unrighteous, and we pray that they are not allowed to succeed. We pray for a culture that supports life and families. We pray for lawmakers to be courageous and be led by You in matters of life. Please, in the mighty name of Jesus, thwart the plans of the enemy. Amen.

Pray for pregnant women to choose life. 

The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life (Job 33:4).

You have granted me life and steadfast love (Job 10:11-12).

Know that the Lord is God. It is He who made us (Psalm 100:3).

I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore, choose life, that you and your offspring may live (Deuteronomy 3:19). 

Lord, we know that no law for or against abortion is the solution. Instead, the one true solution is for the heart of every woman to trust in You, Your Word and choose life for her baby. We lift up every woman who today is facing an unwanted pregnancy. Lord, relieve her fear and shame. Give her Your peace and Your mercy. For those considering abortion, guide her in Your grace to choose life. Lord, lead her to resources that will support her decision to have her baby, including the Church. Send godly counselors to her and caring friends and family to come alongside her in support. Give them wisdom and discernment to know that abortion is not the answer. Trusting in You as the Author of life is. Hear our cry, O Lord. In Jesus' name, amen.

Pray for every child who believes they are transgender and for the protection of parental rights to make healthcare decisions for their children.

He created them male and female and blesses them (Genesis 5:2).

Then we will no longer be infants tossed back and forth ... by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of Him who is the head, that is, Christ (Ephesians 4:14-15).

I have no greater joy than to hear that My children are walking in the truth (3 John 1:4).

Let's celebrate with a feast, because this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found (Luke 15:23-24).

Lord, we lift up to You the children and their parents caught up in the devil's lies of transgenderism. Lift this confusion and suffering from their minds and destroy all ungodly thought patterns as to their sex and gender. Renew their minds, Lord, as You created them. We pray for courage for parents to hold fast in protecting their children. May doctors and therapists give them the respect as parents to make the best healthcare decisions for their children. We pray for righteous laws and practices that would help children resolve identity issues and restore them to the mind and body alignment that You gave to them when You knit every child in the womb. We pray that the eyes of physicians and politicians would be opened to the truth of biology and end this demonic rush to mutilate and sterilize children in the false promise they can recreate themselves.
