President Trump to Washington Examiner Reporter: 'Everything Changed' in the Moment He Was Shot"...We talked a little bit about God and a Divine intervention, and he believes that that was that moment, and that he needed to rise to that occasion when he gave his speech." -Salena Zito
Zito was at the rally, along with family members, and in her own account of that day, posted on The Free Press, she describes how she was just four feet from the stage when the shooting began. "I looked up at the president. He touched his ear. I was shocked to see blood on his face. A smear of red across his cheek," Zito wrote. Then she described how Trump was then surrounded by Secret Service agents and "everyone went down." "My daughter hit the ground. My son-in-law lay on top of her. I threw my body next to theirs. Immediately, a security officer was on top of me," noted Zito in her report. But God's hand was on Trump that day, as he miraculously only sustained a bullet wound to the top of his ear as he'd turned his head at just the right moment. Zito and her family members were also spared, though undoubtedly shaken up. Remarkably, in the Washington Examiner piece, Zito tells how President Donald Trump called her the very next morning, to ask if she and her family were alright and then "he apologized for not being able to do the interview, and I basically said, ‘Mr. President, you've just been shot, so I'm pretty much OK.'" And Trump then proceeded to give Zito an interview over the phone instead. She notes how President Trump told her that "everything changed" when the shooting happened, and how just the fact that he'd turned to look at the screen with the immigration graphic had saved his life. "...We talked a little bit about God and a Divine intervention, and he believes that that was that moment, and that he needed to rise to that occasion when he gave his speech," wrote Zito. And reportedly, Trump has rewritten his scheduled speech for the Republican National Convention (RNC) to "focus on unity." At the RNC on Monday night, Trump's entrance—with a bandage over his recovering ear—was powerful, and he looked visibly moved as he walked to his seat to a thunderous standing ovation. President Trump is set to give that speech on Thursday night. Subscribe for free to Breaking Christian News here
