The school district voted to remove both holidays from the school calendar. It's yet another example of the wokeness that has infected our public schools. I write about this in my upcoming book, "Twilight's Last Gleaming: Can America Be Saved?"

The local ABC affiliate said Columbus Day has become a divisive issue given the role of Christopher Columbus in colonizing the New World.

One middle school in the district actually held a workshop titled, "Columbus: Hero or Villain?"

Local Republicans called the decision disappointing and shocking. Others called it an insult to those who served in the military.

"One word: DISGUSTING to describe Stamford Connecticut," one angry resident said. "The very backwards, ignorant and obvious communist school board has CANCELLED both Columbus day and Veterans day. The reason? They needed more school days for teaching. WHAT????"

Another wrote, "the leftist town in Stamford Connecticut want's to eliminate Columbus Day and Veterans Day from the school calendar. This shows enormous disrespect to Italians and Veterans. These people are just like The Taliban, tearing down statues and erasing our History."

This is a spit in the face and even worse, to our Veterans. SO appalling on so many levels. Stamford CT should be ashamed.

Students will still celebrate two Muslim holidays along with Gay Pride and Black History Month.

But apparently school leaders don't believe there should be a holiday set aside to honor the men and women who wear the uniform of this great nation.
