Franklin Graham: 'Shame On the Methodist Church' for 'Editing the Word of God'

Todd Starnes : Jan 5, 2024  ToddStarnes.com

"These are Biblical terms — and marriage between a man and a woman is Biblical truth ... As Christians, we aren't called to avoid what might offend people—we are called to share the Truth of God's Word that can guide and direct us through every step of life." -Franklin Graham

The church is calling on pastors to repent of any hurtful language—telling them to avoid using words like husband and wife.

"There is infinite variety in the way that God's creation is expressed in human life. This is worth bearing in mind as we speak and write. Terminology such as 'husband' and 'wife' may sound inoffensive but it makes assumptions about a family or personal life that is not the reality for many people," the church wrote in its guide. "The words 'parent', 'partner' and 'child' are a good place to start. 'Carer' is also a neutral yet understandable way to refer to the primary carer of a child, who may or may not be their parent."

It's all part of a new Inclusive Church Language Guide.

"As Christians, we need to have the courage for conversations that can sometimes be difficult, to recognize that we sometimes exclude people, to listen with humility, to repent of any hurtful language or imagery and to take care with how we listen and what we say, write or depict, in the Spirit of Christ," read a statement from the church.

Franklin Graham says the Methodists should be ashamed.

"Shame on the Methodist Church," Graham, CEO of Samaritan's Purse, wrote in a social media post Tuesday. "These are Biblical terms—and marriage between a man and a woman is Biblical truth. The word 'wife' is used in some 360 verses in 38 books of the Bible. They are in essence trying to edit what the Word of God says and teaches to be more appealing to the changing whims of culture. We are warned against that in Scripture. As Christians, we aren't called to avoid what might offend people—we are called to share the Truth of God's Word that can guide and direct us through every step of life."

And as bad as things are in the UK, they're worse here in this nation.

Woke evangelicals have infected many of our congregations —embracing radical ideas about sex and gender.

A former president of the Southern Baptist Convention once urged Christians to engage in what he called pronoun hospitality.

There's nothing hospitable about turning a blind eye to another person's sin.

As Franklin Graham said—we are not called to avoid what might offend people. We are called to share the truth of God's Word. Subscribe for free to Breaking Christian News here
