Seattle High Schooler Given Failing Grade on Quiz for Saying Only Women Can Get Pregnant"I keep trying to wrap my head around how it is legal to teach inaccurate information and force students to answer against their beliefs or receive negative scores." -Student's mother
Recently, a 10th grade student, was marked "incorrect" on two questions relating to reproductive organs and pregnancy, on a quiz. According to a report by the New York Post, the student labeled the following two statements as "True": First that "All men have penises" and the second that "Only women can get pregnant." The student then received "incorrect" marks on both statements he'd answered "True," and subsequently failed the knowledge test, according to his mother. She told the KTTH radio show, "I keep trying to wrap my head around how it is legal to teach inaccurate information and force students to answer against their beliefs or receive negative scores." The NY Post report noted that the student's mom--who wishes to remain anonymous along with her son--told KTTH that she felt "frustration and anger" over the quiz, and that teachers have accused her son of being "racist" among other things.
