Famous Rapper Turns to Jesus: 'Christ Lives in Me'"...Tonight, I recognize, and I am not ashamed to tell the whole world that Jesus lives in me and that I will live for Him ... All the tools that I have in my possession such as music, social networks, platforms, a microphone—everything that Jesus gave me—is now for His kingdom." -Ramón Luis Ayala RodrÃguez (formerly Daddy Yankee)
The "Despacito" singer shared the footage with his 49 million followers on Instagram after his final concert. "Family: This day for me is the most important of my life... tonight I recognize and I am not ashamed to tell the whole world that Christ lives in me and that I will live for Him," Yankee wrote in Spanish. "This is the end of one chapter and the beginning of a completely new one." He shared the Bible verse Matthew 16:26-27: "What good is it for a man to gain the whole world if he loses his life? Or how much can man pay for his life? For the Son of Man is coming with the glory of His Father and with His angels, and then He will reward each one according to what he has done." The "Gasolina" singer made the announcement in his home country at his final concert on his farewell tour. "My people, this day for me is the most important day of my life. And I want to share it with you because living a life of success is not the same as living a life with purpose," Yankee said in Spanish. He told fans those days are over and now the emptiness in his life has finally been filled. "That is why tonight, I recognize, and I am not ashamed to tell the whole world that Jesus lives in me and that I will live for Him," Yankee said. "All the tools that I have in my possession such as music, social networks, platforms, a microphone—everything that Jesus gave me—is now for His Kingdom," he said. "Thank you very much, Puerto Rico, and I hope that you walk with me in this new beginning." WATCH: Country Star Announces He's Leaving Music for Christian Ministry He told the audience he would now go by his birth name: Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez. "To all the people who followed me, follow Jesus Christ, who is the way, the truth and the life," he said. "Just like Jesus, with His mercy, allowed me to travel the world, in Your mercy, Father, I hope you allow me to evangelize the world from Puerto Rico. Amen." A massive light show appeared in the sky with a large cross and the words, "Cristo Te Ama," meaning "Christ loves you" in Spanish.
