'I Love This Song': Governor Kristi Noem Defends Jason Aldean's Latest, Canceled by CMT

SMG Newswire : Jul 20, 2023  ToddStarnes.com

"...So to see this kind of backlash against it, I think it just shows what the left is doing to destroy people. Anybody who doesn't fall in line with their crazy agenda of control and fear, they try to destroy them. So I'm just super proud of Jason and for singing it..." -Governor Kristi Noem

Country Music Television announced they had pulled Aldean's newest anthem, "Try That in a Small Town."

The song salutes small town values and has caused great angst and a triggering among leftists across the nation. Click here for our coverage.

"I love this song," she told Starnes. "It's basically the story of South Dakota. We have people in this state that love America. We believe in respecting our law enforcement and having safe communities. And I thought it was great."

Noem said she was not surprised that Aldean has come under attack.

"I think it just shows what the left is doing to destroy people. Anybody who doesn't fall in line with their crazy agenda of control and fear, they try to destroy them," she said.

TODD: Hello, America. Welcome to the Todd Starnes Radioprogram, broadcasting border to border, coast to coast across the fruited plain. And I want to go back to this Jason Aldean story real quick there. And I want somebody from the left to explain this to us. So a rap artist can go out there and sing about assaulting women and killing police officers. They can drop racially-charged language and they get celebrated in the culture. They get idolized. But a guy like Jason Aldean, who sings about respecting cops and going to church and teaching our kid right from wrong, well, that sort of content gets you canceled. ...we've got a lot to talk about with our good friend. She is the governor of South Dakota, Kristi Noem. Governor, good to have you with us today. (Screengrab image)

GOV. NOEM: Well, thanks for inviting me to be with you, Todd. I appreciate it.

TODD: I want to get your reaction, Governor, to the controversy surrounding Jason Aldean's new song, "Try That in a Small Town." Did you watch the video? Do you have a problem with what he was singing?

GOV. NOEM: Well, you know, that song I first was made aware of a while ago, probably a month and a half, two months ago. The two guys who wrote this song—I'm good friends with these Nashville songwriters and they sent it to me and said, 'Hey, Jason's put the song out, you're going to love it. You know, it's great.'

And I listened to it and posted about it on my social media back in May and said, I love this song. And it's basically the story of South Dakota. We have people in this state that love America. We believe in respecting our law enforcement and having safe communities. And I thought it was great.

So to see this kind of backlash against it, I think it just shows what the left is doing to destroy people. Anybody who doesn't fall in line with their crazy agenda of control and fear, they try to destroy them. So I'm just super proud of Jason and for singing it. My friends who helped write it, you know, gave inspiration to a song like this. I just think that it's incredible that we've got strong people. It seems like now all we do in this country is if somebody is strong and has an opinion, they get persecuted. So I'm thankful for anybody who has an opinion and decides to portray it in a way that this song does, that portrays it in a respectful way, that sends a message. And I'm hopeful more people will download it, listen to it, regardless of what the industry is trying to do. Subscribe for free to Breaking Christian News here
