Without God, America Doesn't Have a PrayerWe pray much like our Founding Fathers did when they contemplated what this country would become—asking for Divine intervention as they enumerated the self-evident truths.
Republicans and Democrats, Baptists and Catholics will take a knee and bow their heads to thank God for this great land—a place where freedom of religion is enshrined in our Constitution. We gather today to ask God to watch over this land of the free, to bless this home of the brave. We pray much like our Founding Fathers did when they contemplated what this country would become—asking for Divine intervention as they enumerated the self-evident truths. "Their efforts produced the Declaration of Independence and its enumeration of the self-evident truths that we all cherish today. We believe that all men and women are created equal and endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, including life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, President Trump declared in his National Day of Prayer proclamation. We thank God today for those self-evident truths. We thank Him for sustaining us through some very dark days—Pearl Harbor, September 11, 2001. "America has known peace, prosperity, war, and depression—and prayer has sustained us through it all. May our Nation and our people never forget the love, grace, and goodness of our Maker, and may our praise and gratitude never cease," the president said. "We affirm our dependence on God," he said. There are many who say prayer is irrelevant that God has no place in our modern and progressive society. But I say without God—America doesn't have a prayer.
