Slated for release in Spring of 2019, 'Breakthrough' tells the true story of Joyce Smith, a single mother whose 14-year-old son fell through a frozen lake in Missouri and was declared lifeless. As told in Joyce's book, 'The Impossible,' the mother sat by her son's body and prayed until he miraculously came back to life.

Chrissy Metz, who plays the character of Kate in the hit NBC series 'This Is Us,' will play the mother, Joyce. Also starring in the movie is Mike Colter ('Luke Cate'), an agnostic firefighter who helps Joyce, and finds a reason to believe in God after her son is revived.

The movie is currently in production in Canada and will also feature Josh Lucas ('Sweet Home Alabama') and Topher Grace ('Spider-Man 3'). The script for 'Breakthrough' was written by Grant Nieporte ('Seven Pound's) and is directed by Roxann Dawson.
