Here's the "Morning Joe" Segment That Preceded Trump's Tweets: Personal Attacks Were Immature and Inexcusable, But They Shine a Light on Feminist HypocrisyIt appears we may have a Simon Peter in the White House who clearly hasn't learned yet how to apply Jesus' admonition to forgive and forget. But we also have a press corps, men and women included, who dish it out and can't take it. Apologies all around are in order.
If President Trump is a Christian, as some say he is, he is a relatively new one. A new one, on the order of the young Apostle Peter; impulsive, bombastic, passionate, opinionated and often reckless. No doubt it took some time for Peter to become a seasoned Christian – if he ever did. (How "seasoned" do any of us become in our lifetime?) After all, even in death Peter demanded it be done radically differently than other Christians being crucified. [Click here to see the "Morning Joe" segment preceding Donald Trump's tweet yesterday] So, if we've prayed for presidents in the past who "talked the talk" but didn't "walk the walk," we can certainly continue praying for this one. That said, it's important to report the entire drama leading up to Trump's tweets yesterday. It appears Joe and Mika had a field day bashing Trump "below-the-belt" on their show which prompted the president's subsequent "below-the-belt tweets. They belittled him for his "small hands" and accused him of "lying every day and destroying the country." Now, I'm not what you'd call a feminists' feminist. I believe in equal rights and pay for women, etc., but I also concede that there are marked physical and emotional difference between men and women that deserve specific consideration and exceptions. For example, I welcome the efforts of men to show respect and deference towards women. I think it's honorable and men are to be commended for it. Today's feminists, however, demand no preferential treatment whatsoever. They're insulted when they're not allowed to fight alongside men in active combat, or play NFL football, or deferred to in public. For them, it's all about going toe-to-toe with men in every arena. Which is fine, unless you can dish it out but not take it.
It appears we may have a Simon Peter in the White House who clearly hasn't learned yet how to apply Jesus' admonition to forgive and forget. Operating under an eye-for-an-eye mentality is a human condition that's tough to change in the best of us. But if we keep praying for him, and if President Trump desires to become more Christ-like in his spiritual journey, then I'm confident the Holy Spirit will change him. An apology would be a good first step! And an admission of guilt by Joe and Mika wouldn't hurt either.
