Chelsea Provencher took her 8-year-old daughter Violet to the store on Black Friday to buy a toy with gift cards, but they ran into a problem when they got to the cash register.

"We get up there and ring everything in, and I'm $5.52 short," Chelsea said. "And I literally had grabbed all the change I had in the car. I had no money on me, I had just my cellphone and keys, and I felt helpless."

She told Violet she would have to put the toy back, but a cashier stepped in and offered to pay the difference.

"The young lady at the register next to us, she finished with her customer and then she came right over, and she was like, 'No problem,'" Chelsea said. "Pulls out her little credit card—she's like, 'I got this. I'll pay for it.' And I was like, 'No, you don't have to do that, we can put something back.' She's like, 'No, it's fine.'" The cashier, Sheilla Nelson, said she wanted to help out.

"It was just an instinct, because I like to do nice things for other people," Nelson said.

Roger Provencher was so touched by Nelson's kindness to his wife and daughter that he decided to pay it forward.

He went back to the store located in the Manchester area, and insisted on donating $552 in gift cards,100 times the amount Nelson gave Violet.

He instructed that the money be used for any future customers who might need help with their purchases.

"It amazed me that she was nice enough to just help out when someone was distressed because of something so little," he said.

The Toys R' Us corporate office heard of Roger's donation and decided to pay it forward too.

They returned his donation and made one on his behalf that will help customers in need.

"The company is really humbled by what happened and wants to make sure that the store and Sheilla are rewarded," said store manager Jim Guillemette.
