Quarterback Robert Griffin III Leaves This Bible Verse for Teammates as He Leaves Washington Redskins

The Heisman trophy winner left a letter for his teammates rather than talk to reporters, as his way of saying "good-bye."

(Washington, DC)—God-fearing Washington Redskins' quarterback Robert Griffin III earned a touchdown with Christians without even playing in Sunday's NFL Wild-Card football game. He chose to leave a letter for his teammates, rather than to talk to reporters Monday, as his way of saying goodbye. (Photo via Gospel Herald)

Griffin's letter, quoting "The Paradoxical Commandments" written by Dr. Kent Keith in 1968, appeared underneath a framed verse from the Bible—Philippians 4:13: "I can do all this through Him who gives me strength."

Heisman Trophy winner Griffin III, or RG3 as he was called, graduated from Baylor. Then the athlete appeared to be going to have a terrific career with the Redskins, perhaps becoming the football hero Washington had craved for decades. He even started a new Internet meme called "Griffining."

However, back-to-back gruesome knee injuries in 2012, including a torn ACL injury, took his football feet right from under him and he's had to sit on the sidelines for far too long.

In an otherwise cleaned-out locker, Griffin, 25, chose to show his faith in God through everyday life, even in challenging circumstances. The motivational poster left in his locker read:

People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered. Love them anyway.
