Gospel singer Fred Hammond shared a powerful story on the Donnie McClurkin radio show recently of how his mother nearly aborted him, even coming in to the clinic a second time after the first attempt failed, before changing her mind on the operating table.

"She said, 'I went to the clinic and it was illegal to do it in the 50s and 60s, and I had you aborted. And I was supposed to go home and have a miscarriage, and bring you back in a bag.

"She decided to go back and said, I don't think it worked. They said, no, it's still there; we'll get it this time. And she says as she laid there, and they got the tools, she says she felt like God was going to kill her, she got up and ran out, putting her clothes on."

National Right to Life News reported that Hammond told McClurkin he had a conversation with his mother three months before she died. Out of the blue she told a stunned Fred and his daughter–"and she was crying and she was sorry"—that "'Fred was aborted.'" Hammond's response, "What are you talking about?!"

McClurkin concluded the interview saying, "A lot of things that people think are mistakes wind up to be used by God in great ways."
