On the first Sunday of every October, hundreds of millions of people around the world join together to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. In just a few years, this event has quickly become the largest Israel-focused prayer event in history. But why set aside this day each year to pray for Jerusalem?

We set aside this one day each year to raise global awareness and intercession for G-d's purposes in Israel, knowing that this hour in history is critical and our authority in prayer is great. Though we pray every day for Israel, we seek on this day to unite Believers around the world in raising a cry to Heaven on behalf of this troubled, but strategic land and its people. We believe in G-d's promises for His beloved nation and fervently pray to hasten the day when He brings fulfillment to His word.

Rev. Robert Stearns, director and founder of Eagles Wings Ministries, and Dr. Jack Hayford, president of the Foursquare Denomination International and chancellor of The Kings College and Seminary, co-chair the annual global Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem, held the first Sunday of every October.

"The fact is, whatever our theological or political positions regarding Israel, we can all agree there is a Biblical mandate and a current crisis that should cause us to pray," Rev. Stearns said.

The Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem will be held Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008; simultaneously around the world. There will be gatherings in Jerusalem, a worldwide teleconference call, and observances in worship services across the globe. Events will be carried live on GodTV.

Participants may register online at www.daytopray.com, as well as find a local church where they may join in prayer with other Believers. They can also download brochures, sermons and other information, and follow events live that day.
